HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!!!!

Yesterday was my dad's birthday...Gran found me this picture from his very first birthday party...it was a swim party....sorta like me & Sadie (?).....anyway, isn't he cute? I think Dad had a good birthday....he & mom went out to Shakey's to eat pizza that he likes for lunch .. and then they took me to where his Nana is buried on account of she went up to heaven on his birthday six years ago! Later he & mom & the grans went out for a birthday supper....then Mimi, Papa, Amy, Michael & THE GIRLS came to have birthday cake! Dad got a Nerd Blizzard Ice Cream Cake just like he has always liked! They didn't put 32 candles on the cake....Michael might have had to call his firetruck in if they had done that! (haha....I really am funny!) I sure had a good time playing with the girls....I'm having more energy for some reason....hope it lasts! More later....'cause I'm riding, riding, riding in the car all day today to get home!

Wedding Weekend!

I was right!!! Here I am at Camp Grans...cool early morning... watching the birds! My Mimi is coming to get me in a little while - everybody here will be gone to weddings. I've done good Camp Grans stuff ever since I got here....but I also just like to sleep, sleep, sleep. I think my new medicines make me lazy!

Some Kind of Wierd Day!

Today is the day that I got my #2 Chemo treatment....AND we are going back to Camp Grans! I thought I had misunderstood about that because .....well, we just got home from Camp Grans.....so I didn't get excited! But, here we are....ALL PACKED UP like going to Camp Grans....driving for awhile....but now stopped for what Dad calls "construction traffic" in NC. Mom is driving....Dad is doing work....and I'm just grooving away here in the back on my happy medicine my sweet docs gave me! I'm doing pretty good - feel fine! I'm getting plenty of water! [hey, I usually don't get too much water on these trips....and Dad said I'd get plenty of potty breaks (what?)] My dad is in a wedding in Athens....Uncle Ben is in another wedding in Athens....Gran & Dandy are going to BOTH weddings.....and I'm not going to any weddings! :) I get to stay with Mimi & Papa until my mom & dad finish doing weddings...... hmmm, think I'll go back to sleep! This is toooo confusing! If I had a IPhone I'd show you a picture....but I don't!

Twelve Count Nugget Days

Just home from my SECOND day in a row at the vet...well, no sleepover...but I stayed ALL day yesterday and most of today. Dad says it will usually just be one day- with sleepover just once in awhile. The docs are really, really sweet to me...yesterday more poking than today, but today must've been pretty important...cause now I'm rocking this little wierd place on my leg - but I'm good! I know everybody there and they love me; they did lots of thinking & talking to my mom & dad to be sure of what they needed to do...They JUST CARE SO MUCH ABOUT ME....just like everybody else! :) FUNNY HOW IT'S ALWAYS good to get home though!!!!...I'm feeling pretty fine... and, boy, would I love a walk to the river!!! Hey..............Dad!!!!

Sandy Bottom Nature Park

Mom & Dad brought me to Sandy Bottom yesterday after work...it's a beautiful nature park in Hampton...over 450 acres mostly wetlands...with lots of things for us to do! I think this is a pretty good picture of me with the sunlight setting...yep, my gran will be all over painting this!! :)

You wouldn't believe all the birds and stuff that are here. I can't even begin to tell you what all I can smell on these trails....one time...we were all walking and it was real quiet and secluded so my dad took me off my leash (only cause I'm usually so well behaved, you know!) and we were quietly walking....and the next thing I knew I just found myself sailing through the air almost catching a HUGE white bird that erupted out of the swamp right by the trail...wings whooshing...jaws snapping...Dad had to fish me out of the swamp...I didn't mention getting off leash rest of that trip! I just don't know why I did that...surprised me too!


I love Sandy Bottom with my mom & dad....it's one of our favorite non-beach places to be! Oh, yeah, I think we have a meeting with all my doctors this afternoon. I'll let you know how that goes. (Wonder does a meeting qualify for ChickfilA? Can we take a vote?)

I love my mom & dad!!!!! (I also love riding to the toy store!....hey, I love riding anywhere!) BUT....... PLEASE REMIND ALL YOUR FRIENDS NOT TO LEAVE MY BUDDIES IN THE CAR WHILE THEY RUN INTO THE STORE....EVEN FOR JUST ONE MINUTE!!!!!!!! It's just too DOG BISCUIT HOT!!!!!!

OK, SO HERE'S THE DEAL!

Well, I'm here in my backyard at home...isn't it pretty? I've been catching up...my young beagle buddy next door still hasn't figured out how to not bark so much (and that's some bark he's got!)...but he will!

My BIG NEWS is that I've been back to my doc here at home..my eye would still get really squinty..then get better...then squint more..and I started to not want much to eat...then all of a sudden I got this "thing" under my jaw...well, mom had me to the vet in a flash. They did a bunch of stuff...(but you know how good I am..I just let'm poke & prod and gave'em kisses) ...did lab work for people smart like my dad to see. They were thinking something about my salivary glands (I do smack my food a lot!) It was a VERY GOOD thing that my dad got home from Texas the next day (on Friday) because my neck was worse...so BOTH he & mom scooted me back pronto! This time the labs were back..and apparently I have this thing called Lymphoma. (Try spelling that with paws!)

I could tell everybody was upset...even the doc..but my mom & dad just hugged me and told me how good I was being! (well, yeah!) On the way home we talked about stuff...they said it would be good if I started going to the vet once every week for awhile (what?) so that I could start feeling a lot better (hmmm...really?)...and also, every time I went we'd need to stop at Chick fil A on the way home (now, that's a plan!!!) And here I thought Gran was my only source.

They also said that we'd need to be going to the beach a LOT! and SOON! (this just keeps getting better!) But then they both got real serious and said, "Now, Alice, nothing has changed at all..we still expect the very best from you..to use your manners...wait at the door to come/go...and in/out of the car..to eat your food...and stay where you belong in the yard! You just might sleep on the sofa a little more, but we'll see about that! WHEW! Hearing that was a huge relief to me..I was starting to wonder..but now I know that my world is just the same! My mom & dad are right here with me, Chess follows me everywhere I go, all my family loves me to pieces...and I got lots & lots & lots of friends...and we're talking about the BEACH!!! I AM the luckiest girl in the world!!!!

PLEASE pass it on to take good care of all my buddies in this heat!!! LOTS & LOTS & LOTS of water!!! Talk to ya soon!

Well, here I am...loving my early morning sun on the porch...Gran brings coffee out here and we listen to the birds. I'm doing a lot of listening...and I know FOR SURE that I'm going with Mom & Dad...TODAY! But I will miss all my grans and family and being here and seeing all my friends...so for now I'm thinking that I'll talk about all that good stuff on my blog later. I'll have plenty of time to think about that when I'm all rested & home in my backyard. I like to think there too! I'll bet I remember a lot of funny stuff!



I gave Dandy lots of kisses before he went to work...and my Mimi came over before she went to work...and a little later my Papa came over and GUESS WHO HE BROUGHT!!!! I loved playing with the girls before we went home!!!! I love my girls!!!


Well, Dad & I started packing up the car...I watched carefully....

....saw a lot of bags go in....including my stuff! Can't be too careful!
I made sure we had the good stuff I bought for Chess too!

Last Day before I Go Home!

fyi: So sorry...really got behind....This is Sunday, June 6...I'll do better!
Here I Am!!!! Just watching everybody and listening to everything....and thinking I must be the luckiest girl in the whole world! My mom & dad are back, Sadie is here...my uncle Rick even rode his motorcycle over to visit (I think he knew it was my last day here!)...it is a beautiful day to take a ride! (haha...but you know me...any day is a beautiful day to take a ride!)


Sadie & I had a lot to do...here we were checking out who all had visited up from the woods the night before....and seeing if Rufus, the King snake, was out. My dad was just chilling with us....There was a cool breeze...it felt good. My dad has poison ivy really bad but it's getting a lot better.



Benjamin & Meg were finishing up with their corn hole game. It looks really cool...I think we all played that at the beach one time. (sigh...the beach!)



My grans were really, really happy to have us all here together tonight...it's really hard to get everybody here at one time to just hang out. There were some really good smells coming from here.....(Gran said that's all I'm allowed to say on that subject! ....cause you know I NEVER eat table food!)

But there was steak.....I'm just saying!


Sadie & I moved our playing inside later that night...

Even Sadie was ready to rest some...I know I was! I have SO MUCH fun with Sadie...I just love my Sadie!

This has been a really great day...and I've had a wonderful time at Camp Grans....but here is the very best part of all!!!! I am just snuggling with my mom & dad....and I think they're pretty happy to have me do it! I have sure gotten lots of hugs & kisses since they got to grans...I think they have really missed me! I KNOW I have missed them....nothing like your mom & dad! Tomorrow we are all three going back home to Virginia...to my sweet Chess and my own backyard. I'm sure there's lots I need to check on there....but I'm taking some great stuff to remember with me!
